This is reduced to a much narrower sole in the scoring irons to improve accuracy. The soles are scalloped in order to minimize the amount of contact with the ground the club has. An internal weight pad sets the center of gravity progressively deeper throughout the set. Scoring irons are set with a higher center of gravity for better control. The shafts are made of graphite.
